Michael McNeill, is introduced
as a winemaker in search of the holy grail of Pinot Noir.
This search had taken Michael from the vineyards of Chalone Vineyard, to Silvan
Ridge in Oregon and to the Santa Cruz Mountains and Central Coast with Savannah-Chanelle
Vineyards.
While at Savannah-Chanelle, Michael became intrigued by the Sonoma Coast
Appellation through tastings and making both Pinot and Chardonnay from the
Armagh Vineyard, which is just west of Keller Estate.
"The wines from this region have such an amazing richness and texture," notes
Michael "while the bright acidity holds the wine together and keeps the fruit
vivid."
Michael takes his winemaking cues from the vineyard and believes that all of the
wine's potential comes from the vineyard. To that end, Michael works closely
with Vineyard Manager Eric Neil to fine tune our vineyard practices in order to
grow the best fruit possible.
