Ashley Christensen is the executive chef
and part owner of Enoteca Vin (known
simply as “Vin” to locals). A native of
North Carolina, Christensen now makes
her home in Raleigh.
Christensen cites her beekeeper and
organic gardener dad as instilling an
early appreciation of fresh, seasonal
ingredients. A
self-styled educational path placed her
in posts with chef Andrea Reusing,
previously at Enoteca Vin and now owner
of Chapel Hill’s Lantern, as well as
with Scott Howell at Nana’s in Durham,
NC.
She returned to Enoteca Vin on New
Year’s Eve, 2001, as the executive chef.
Christensen finds inspiration for her
menus primarily from the offerings of
the season. She seeks out only the
highest quality of
products--manipulating them as little as
possible and letting the food be true to
its nature. Christensen also takes every
opportunity to travel, experience other
restaurants and assist in the kitchens
of other chefs.
Enoteca Vin and Christensen believe that
the restaurant is an integral part of
the community - together they proudly
support their local farmers and take
part in many on-going philanthropic
projects.
